Beijing South Railway Station - Beijing NanZhan - 北京南站
The current Beijing South Railway Station (Chinese: 北京南站; pinyin: Běijīng Nán Zhàn) is a new and massive railway
station on the south side of Beijing that opened on August 1, 2008. The new station replaced the old Beijing South Station,
also known as the Yongdingmen Railway Station before 1988, which stood 500 m away and operated from 1897 to 2006.
The enormous oval-shaped station, reportedly the largest in Asia, was designed by the UK/Hong Kong architecture firm of
Terry Farrell and Partners in collaboration with the Tianjin Design Institute. Beijing South Railway Station joins the Beijing
Railway Station and the Beijing West Railway Station as the third major passenger rail hub in the Chinese capital. It will
serve as the terminus for high-speed trains to the city, including the Beijing–Tianjin Intercity Rail, which can reach speeds
above 350 km/h.

北京南站（原永定门站）建于1907年，地处宣武区、崇文区及丰台区交界处，南二环、南三环、马家堡东路、马家堡西路之间，
凉水河北侧。2006年5月停运改建。改建后的北京南站成为中国乃至亚洲第一大火车站， 京沪高速铁路的起点，整个工程2008年
8月完成。
最快、最先进的京沪、京津等高速列车都在此停靠。新南站成国铁、地铁、公交、出租车集于一身的大型交通枢纽，功能将超越
北京站和西站。扩建后的新南站将大面积西扩，主站房西移，总建筑面积将扩大到22．6万平方米，总体规模略小于北京西站，
但其功能上将完全超越北京站和西站。
新南站总共5 层，由地上两层、地下三层以及31500平方米的高架环形车道组成。地上为高架层和地面层，高架层主要通行的是
出租车和社会车辆，地面层主要通行公交车辆，以及旅客进站。地下一层是换乘大厅、停车场以及旅客出站系统，并且预留了与
城市铁路连接的车站。地下二层是地铁4号线，地下三层是地铁 14号线。预计2020年南站运量每年超1．9亿人次。可容10500人
同时候车，到2015年北京南站的年运量将超过1.5亿人次，成为北京甚至亚洲第一大站。
新北京南站工程总建筑面积22万余平方米，其中地上5．04万平方米，屋面最高40米。其候车室将可以容纳10500人同时候车。
新南站共设24条到发线，13座站台。其中普速车场内设到发线5条，3座站台，京沪高速车场内设到发线12条，6座站台，城际车
场内设到发线7条，4座站台，其工程总投资高达数十亿元。
新南站将成为高速铁路、客运专线以及快速列车的始发站。其中，全长为115公里的京津城际铁路于2008年7月在北京南站投入
运营，其开行时速可达200公里。
